Egg Freezing in Kenya

Life doesn’t always align with your plans for starting a family, and that’s okay. Egg freezing offers women the chance to preserve their fertility until the time is right for them. Whether you’re focusing on your career, haven’t found the right partner, or are preparing for medical treatments that could affect your fertility, egg freezing is a safe and reliable option. Fertility Point provides advanced egg-freezing, giving women the flexibility to take control of their reproductive future.

Who Should Consider Egg Freezing?

Egg freezing is a great option for women who:

  1. Are not ready to have children but want to preserve their fertility for the future.

  2. Are in their 20s or early 30s and wish to freeze their eggs while they are at their healthiest.

  3. Are undergoing medical treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation, that could impact their fertility.

  4. Have a family history of early menopause or other conditions that may affect egg quality or quantity.

  5. Want to increase their chances of conception later in life using their healthy eggs.

The Egg Freezing Process

  1. Consultation and Assessment: The first step is meeting with our fertility specialists to discuss your goals and assess your ovarian reserve. Blood tests and ultrasounds are used to determine the number and quality of eggs currently available for retrieval.

  2. Ovarian Stimulation: You will begin taking hormone medications to stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs. This process typically lasts 10–14 days and is monitored with regular ultrasounds and blood tests to ensure optimal egg development.

  3. Egg Retrieval: Once the eggs are mature, they are collected through a minor procedure called egg aspiration. This is done under light sedation and takes about 20–30 minutes.

  4. Freezing the Eggs: The retrieved eggs are frozen immediately using a technique called vitrification, a rapid-freezing process that protects the eggs from damage. The frozen eggs are then stored securely in liquid nitrogen at -321° Fahrenheit (-196.1° Celsius) for future use.

Success Rate and Considerations

  • Age Matters: The quality and quantity of eggs decline with age, so freezing your eggs earlier (in your 20s or early 30s) increases your chances of success.

  • Egg Quality: Not all eggs will survive the freezing and thawing process, so retrieving multiple eggs increases the likelihood of successful fertilization later.

  • Future Use: When you’re ready to use your frozen eggs, they can be thawed, fertilized, and implanted through IVF. Advances in vitrification technology have significantly improved survival rates and pregnancy outcomes.

Benefits of Egg Freezing

  • Flexibility: Egg freezing allows you to delay pregnancy until you’re ready, whether for personal or medical reasons.

  • Preservation: By freezing eggs at their healthiest, you can improve your chances of conceiving later in life.

  • Peace of Mind: Knowing your eggs are preserved gives you more control over your future family planning decisions.
